Maya is a supporting character in Tenchi Muyo! GXP, so far only appearing in the GXP novels. She is one of many with a romantic interest in Seina Yamada.

Summary

Maya is a dancer, one of the Mai Class on Racepshi, a young daughter of Makihi and Ekushito (probably a step-father). One of ten children. Her best known sibling is the runaway daughter, the space pirate Kyo Komachi.

When Makihi asked a visiting Washu to scan her daughters for possible compatibility with Seina Yamada (she wishes for a daughter to have a child with him, to produce a high quality entertainer), Maya comes out the leading candidate when Washu reveals she has the same ability to affect Seina's bad luck as his other female companions. Maya is very excited about this and tells Washu that she has dreams that resemble memories of the past that she did not live, which became more frequent after learning, and seeing images of Earth (much as Miki Steinbeck has). This relationship seems further confirmed when Maya meets Seina along with Kiriko and the other 7 Kamidake crew and none can find themselves able to stop her from grabbing Seina's arm and leading him away. They realize that it is because she gives the same impression to them as Kiriko does. Kiriko, for her part, sees the resemblance being similar to her mother, Tsukiko.

For a time, in an attempt to witness Seina in battle and to test her own probability bias, she tries out for and receives a position on the crew of the Good Luck Fleet, serving on the Unko with her sister, Seiryo, and the three idiots. In the novels, she is the one that suggests that they are too lucky to join the fight to defend General Daluma and the guild.

While the Racepshi is taking the long trip to the Renza Federation, Maya is able to coerce Seina into observing a solo "Courtship Dance," performed nude, but in silhouette. Apparently, done correctly, it is supposed to be a fool-proof way to seduce a man. In fact, the dance takes Seina's breath away with its beauty, but he can easily turn down her further advances after the dance and tell her to put some clothes on thanks to his extreme modesty, the fact that, unless she's dancing, she doesn't quite measure up to the beauty of girls like Amane or Gyokuren, and because of his extreme dedication to being faithful to the wives he has already been committed to. She, and later Makihi, believe it is is because she isn't a good enough dancer yet (which may also be a factor).
